The Passion I Saw From “So you think you Can Dance”

While I am not a big fan of Reality TV, I enjoy “So you think you can dance.” I truly saw so much passion as I watched the show. The show has warmness and an authenticity to it that I haven’t found on television these days. Sure there are a few clowns here and there for ratings purposes, but the artists, the dancers themselves are truly passionate and very inspiring.

Dancers as with all artists tend to be very passionate people. It is hard to turn such a thing as passion and talent into a competition. It can often be extremely subjective determining who has passion and who doesn’t or who has talent and who doesn’t. This is why it is so important for artists to have a strong sense of their true and authentic self.

Having a sense of one’s true and authentic self stirs passion and when others witness it, it stirs inspiration. People love art and artists not simply because of what they do, but because how the artist and the art makes the person feel. Inspiration is a powerful thing.

Although I do understand the premise of the show, I know there are people who had a favorite they were rooting for that may have been sent home. This is what makes bringing competition to art difficult. While there may be a million people who think you can dance, the only people that had a voice tonight were the judges.

I would say to each of the dancers, those are just 6 or 7 people in the entire world. And just because they have danced or choreographed doesn’t mean they are the final judge of your work as an artist. The only person that can truly judge your work is you. And when you finally allow the Creative Spirit to move you, you will find that your self-judgment will be one of gratitude, joy, and appreciation for the work and for the art as it is expressed through you.

For every artist, it is important to commit to conscious creativity or conscious creative art. This type of art comes from dedication as well as purpose. Your intent when you create or do the work is to inspire others to inspire others. That’s no typo…you want to inspire others to inspire others. For instance, a dancer from “So You think You can dance” dancing with the intent to “move” or inspire their audience in a way where the onlooker is moved to do something inspirational as well—that is conscious creative art or conscious creativity.

With conscious creativity or conscious creative art, you are aware. You are fully aware in the present moment and your intent is inspiration and to awaken the Kundalini fire or Spirit in someone else. This type of inspiration is contagious. This is when art becomes contagious. I am sure that even those dancers, who were not chosen to be on the show tonight, specifically the dancers who are passionate about dance, will find that they may have inspired someone out there in TV land. They most certainly have inspired me.

Until next time remember to…Live well. Live wise. Live wealthy. And, let the Creative Spirit move you.
