In the previous section, entitled-Debunk the Economic Downturn & Choose to Live & Love To Live Holistically: Part 1 – The Sacrifice, I talked about the traps of, “settling” into a mentality of lack by reacting to the perceived economic crisis. One way that mentality is constantly reinforced is by believing that one has to make unneeded lifestyle sacrifices.

Unfortunately, “sacrifice,” “just enough,” and “lack” is a lifestyle for many. We have all witnessed how many individuals refuse to aim high for fear that they can’t reach, have, or attain something greater than their reality has dictated.

I was watching the film, “The Truman Show.” In that film Truman, portrayed quite well, by funnyman Jim Carey, spent his entire life reared in a “reality-tv” world created by Christof, the creator of the Truman show. Unbeknownst to Truman, his entire life, that was created for him, was broadcasted to the world since his inception. All is well in his world until a series of subtle mishaps begin to occur. These mishaps force Truman to question his reality. Throughout the film, we watch flashbacks of a young Truman wanting to step out of his comfort zone and explore a larger world, only to allow fear to keep him trapped where he was.

As the film progresses, we watch as his desire for his true love forces him to propel out of his known reality and discover a world beyond what he grew to know.

If you have never seen The Truman Show, I highly recommend it. It’s an older film, but I can tell you that when I first saw it 11 years ago, I didn’t quite appreciate or grasp its message the way I have in recent years. It’s message is as relevant today, as it was a decade ago. There is a line in the film, spoken by the character of Christof, played by actor Ed Harris, that’s embedded in the latter part of the film. His character is asked why Truman never tried to leave the island. His responds, “You would be surprised at the reality someone accepts.” It may not have been in those exact words. Hey, go see the movie to hear the exact line, but the words that character spoke at that moment is the theme which saturated the entire movie.

Truman, as many do, accepted his world, his reality, because he was told to. Everyone around him, everything he heard and observed told him to accept the reality which was his life. All reinforced this belief except his true love.

In the film, Truman’s true love represented a girl he fell in love with during his youth. His desire for wanting to find her drove him to question his current reality and ultimately create a new world for himself.

His vision of his true love is analogous of our true desires, while Truman’s friends represent the entrapment of the ego. Truman’s vision and desire for more, ultimately set him free

What is your true love? Family, our true love is our purpose in life. Once discovered, you will embark on a wonderful exodus of uniting with your true and authentic self. You will be continuously guided along your path of enlightenment as your purpose; the love of your life continues to unfold before you.

Allow your true and authentic self to guide you during these times of uncertainty. While pop culture is uncertain, know that you can be certain that you have the ability to prosper in all times.

Until next time, Live Well, Live Wise, Live Wealthy and Let the Creative Spirit move you.
